In this sculpture, wood becomes a vessel of memory.
The olive ash preserves in its grain the patient marks of its growth, while the bark-borer-infested common ash branch bears the patterns left by a discreet life beneath the bark. Both tell a story without words, written directly into the material.
The lines of the wood respond to the insect galleries like two forms of writing of different origins: one born of time, the other of life. Together, they compose a landscape of traces where growth, transformation, and disappearance intertwine.
Rémanence II evokes what remains when the passage of beings and seasons has receded: a persistent presence, inscribed deep within the material.
