Apple wood, white lacquer

Last piece in my “regressive” series, in apple wood and white lacquer. The lacquer has been lightly worked to give it the mother-of-pearl appearance of shells rolled on sand.

First association of sculpture and calligraphy with the engraving of a poem by Philippe Jaccottet. The letters created are inspired by the runic alphabet and highlighted with golden wax.

“Every flower is only night that pretends to have come closer But where its perfume rises I cannot hope to enter That's why it troubles me so much”.
