Géomorphose IV
H 26 cm, L 22 cm, P 2,5 cm
Walnut, ink, gold paint, glass, paper
The fourth piece in the Géomorphose series, this section of walnut rootstock from the orchards of Vinay (Isère) becomes a landscape to be explored.
The lines and markings in the wood have guided the design: rather than covering them up, I accompany and reveal them, as if they were a map already inscribed within the material. The patterns here evoke reliefs, networks and territories in the making.
Each section of this same trunk reveals a different landscape. Like a series of successive cross-sections, they each tell a part of the tree’s story whilst remaining interconnected.
Mounted on a glass panel and framed, Géomorphose IV seems to float like a fragment of unspoilt territory.
